COMMANDER’S COMMENTS

Commander's Comments: We are now starting a new year with the new administration of officers.
There has been a lack of members waiting to volunteer their time to help us generate funds to help veterans in distress this past year.
At this rate there will be no one left to run the VFW after the Korean War Veterans have gone. It's time for the Viet Nam Vets, Afghanistan Vets, Desert Storm and Iraq Vets to pick up the torch to take their place in the VFW. Help us so we can help our fellow veterans when they need us. Let's just say, if you cared about your fellow veteran in the military, you should care now and take a stand to help them when they need it.
I'm sure that some of you, if not most, are retired and could give 3 hours a week for some volunteer help at a fund raiser or in our case, we run a Bingo one day a week.
So , lets go and help our fellow veterans, join the VFW and feel the satisfaction of helping one of your own.
For Example:
Just recently we saved a veteran's home from foreclosure, he is a Viet Nam vet and under VA care. He turned to us as a last resort and found out that we do care and we are willing to help. We saved his home from foreclosure. That is just one example of many veterans the VFW has helped.
I am reaching out to all of you veterans to please join the VFW, it does have it's rewards of knowing you have helped one of your own.
For just $28.00 a year it gives us strength in numbers going before congress to fight for your entitlements.
Our meetings are the 2nd Monday of each month and we also have a free meal at each meeting. Consider getting 12 free meals with your membership and that's not counting the cook-outs and special functions throughout the year.
What do you say? Step up to the plate and help us keep the VFW alive
Your Comrade,
Gilbert Grylls, Commander.
